RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Olympic Committee has praised the men’s field hockey team for securing a place at the 2026 Asian Games after advancing to the semifinals of the qualifiers.

Chairman of NOC Indonesia, Raja Sapta Oktohari, expressed his appreciation for the team’s achievement, highlighting their success in reaching the semifinals and earning a ticket to the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya.

“Congratulations to Indonesia’s men’s field hockey team for advancing to the semifinals and securing qualification for the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya. I also welcome them as part of the Indonesian contingent,” Oktohari said in a written statement issued in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 7, as quoted by ⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠Antara.

This marks the second time Indonesia’s men’s field hockey team has qualified for the Asian Games through the qualification route, following their successful campaign for the 2022 Hangzhou edition.

Oktohari also expressed hope that the women’s team will replicate this success during their qualification matches, scheduled to take place at the Senayan Hockey Field Stadium in Jakarta from April 20–30, 2026.

Indonesia clinched its semifinal berth and Asian Games ticket after defeating Thailand 1–0 in its final Pool A match at the Royal Thai Air Force Hockey Field in Bangkok on Monday, April 6.

In the semifinals on Friday, April 9, Indonesia will face Pool B leaders Sri Lanka, who remain unbeaten with 12 points. The other semifinal will feature Oman against Pool B runners-up Uzbekistan.

“Hopefully, the men’s field hockey team can progress to the final and claim the title in the 2026 Asian Games qualifiers,” Oktohari concluded. ***
