RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian top-flight club Persija Jakarta on Friday, February 6, 2026, confirmed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Jean Mota as part of its mid-season reinforcements ahead of the second half of the 2025/2026 Super League season, strengthening the squad through a targeted evaluation of team needs.

Persija announced that the Sao Paulo-born midfielder, born on October 15, 1993, has been contracted until the end of the season, with an option to extend for one additional year.

Persija Director Mohamad Prapanca said the recruitment was the result of a comprehensive team assessment aimed at maintaining competitiveness in the league title race.

“Persija continuously conducts a thorough evaluation of the squad’s needs. We expect Jean Mota’s presence to add variation to our style of play and strengthen the team overall," Prapanca said in a written statement on Friday, February 6, 2026, as quoted by Antara. 

"He has experience competing at the highest levels, and we believe his quality and mentality will help the team achieve its targets,” Prapanca added.

Jean Mota brings extensive experience from Brazil’s top competitions. He previously played for Portuguesa (2013-2015), Santos (2016-2022), Fortaleza (2015-2016), and EC Vitória (2024-2025). Between 2022 and 2024, he also featured in Major League Soccer (MLS) with Inter Miami.

Before joining Persija, Mota was registered with Vila Nova FC during the 2025/2026 season.

The Jakarta-based club expects Mota’s background across different leagues to contribute significantly, particularly in controlling tempo and adding creativity in midfield.

Mota expressed enthusiasm about beginning his new chapter in Indonesian football.

“I am ready for this challenge and very excited to make my debut wearing the Persija jersey. I chose Persija because it is a big club that is competing for the title this season. I will dedicate my best abilities to bring happiness to Persija supporters,” Jean Mota said.

With the addition of Jean Mota, Persija have now signed six players during the mid-season transfer window. The new arrivals include Fajar Fathurrahman, Alaeddine Ajaraie, Paulo Ricardo, Shayne Pattynama, Mauro Zijlstra, and Jean Mota. ***
