RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Jakarta is set to become the center of Asian amateur boxing events this July as the city prepares to host the Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Men's and Women's Championships 2026. The announcement was made by the Indonesian Boxing Association (Perbati) following confirmation from Asian Boxing. 

“Perbati is fully committed to organizing this championship professionally, transparently, and in line with the standards of Asian Boxing and World Boxing,” Perbati Chairman Ray Zulham said during a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He explained that Indonesia was chosen as host after a rigorous selection and evaluation process. Jakarta, he noted, was selected for its proven track record in staging large-scale international sporting events, including the Asian Games and Asian Para Games.

Ray Zulham emphasized that the trust placed in Indonesia marks an important milestone for the revival of amateur boxing in the country. “This is not only about being the host, but also about building a strong and sustainable boxing ecosystem in Indonesia,” he said.

The championship is expected to draw athletes from 36 Asian Boxing member countries, with an estimated 400 male and female competitors, alongside hundreds of officials and delegates from across the region. 

It will serve as a crucial platform for U19 and U23 athletes to compete internationally and as part of long-term development for amateur boxing in Asia.

As host, Perbati has prepared comprehensive facilities and support systems, including international-standard competition and training venues, accommodation, transportation, medical and anti-doping services, as well as broadcast and promotional arrangements.

The event has also received full backing from the Indonesian government, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports, underscoring the nation’s commitment to advancing athletic achievement, nurturing young talent, and strengthening Indonesia’s position in global sports.

Ray Zulham expressed hope that Indonesia will not only succeed as host but also leave a lasting legacy for the growth of boxing in Asia, while showcasing the country as a competitive destination for sports tourism. ***
