Indonesia Commits Strengthening Disability-Sports After ASEAN Para Games

RRI.CO.ID, Boyolali - The Vice Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Taufik Hidayat, conveyed the government's commitment to improving the development of disability sports and providing better facilities for athletes. Taufik stated this while welcoming the return of the ASEAN Para Games 2025 contingent at Adi Soemarmo Airport in Boyolali, Central Java, on Tuesday, 27 January 2026.

According to Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Taufik, athletes with disabilities have become a great inspiration for Indonesian society. Despite their limitations, they were able to prove themselves through achievements at the international level.

They are an inspiration that despite their limitations, they have proven capable of achieving. We must emulate their spirit. This is what adds to our enthusiasm to keep motivating them. "His fighting spirit is extraordinary," Taufik conveyed.

The development of sports for people with disabilities, Vice Minister of Youth and Sports Taufik conveyed that is very important for athletes to continue honing their skills and maintaining their performance. This is because those who are consistent will represent Indonesia in the 2026 Asian Para Games.

"It will be even more challenging in the future, with the Asian Para Games coming up. Please, athletes, keep your spirits up so you can continue to achieve and bring glory to the nation," he said.

Furthermore, Taufik also expressed appreciation to the athletes who successfully broke records during the ASEAN Para Games 2025 in Thailand.

He said this achievement is an important asset for welcoming higher levels of competition. "This is a good start for the athletes to move to the next level," he conveyed.

As is known, Indonesia successfully brought home 135 gold medals, 143 silver, and 114 bronze. This result placed the Red and White team in second place in the final standings at the 2025 ASEAN Para Games in Thailand.
