RRI.CO.ID, Bekasi Regency – The Ministry of Industry has welcomed the proposed Industrial Zones Bill, which is currently undergoing intensive discussions at the House of Representatives' Commission VII.
The ministry's Director of Regional Industry, Winardi, said the bill was urgently needed to strengthen regulations governing industrial zone management, which has so far been regulated only through government regulations.
"The Industrial Zones Bill will strengthen regulations on industrial zone management, which until now has been governed only by government regulations, so that challenges involving coordination across ministries and agencies can be addressed through the Industrial Zones Law," Winardi said during a legislative working visit on national industrial zone regulations in Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Friday, Oct. 2, 2026.
Commission VII Speaker Saleh Partaonan Daulay said the bill was highly significant and expected to improve the effectiveness of regulations governing industrial zone operations across Indonesia.
"If there is a legal framework, investors will be more confident about investing in Indonesia. That will create job opportunities for Indonesians. Ultimately, the goal is to improve public welfare," Saleh said.
Commission VII is still discussing the Industrial Zones Bill. Saleh hopes that deliberations on the legislation will be completed by the end of 2026.
"The more input we receive from the public, the faster the Industrial Zones Bill can be finalized. We hope it can be passed during a plenary session by December 2026 and serve as the legal framework for industrial zone operations," he said. (Gusti Panji)
