RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Since the beginning of 2026, the Indonesian government has sought to bring access to legal dispute resolution closer to communities through Legal Aid Posts (Posbankum) in every rural and urban village. Previously, such services were available only at "state courts" at the regency or municipal level.
Speaking at a press conference at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, Indonesia's Minister of Law, Supratman Andi Agtas, held a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto to report some progress, including the establishment of the posts. He said almost 84,000 such posts have been established nationwide.
"(Among things) I reported to the president was the establishment of approximately 83,960 posbankums across villages and urban villages throughout Indonesia," he said.
He also said the posts had resolved around 14,000 legal cases through a restorative justice approach. Approximately 2,000 other cases will be processed through free legal aid.
"Of the more than 83,000 Legal Aid Posts established, about 16,000 complaints have been received. Of those, about 14,000 cases were resolved through mediation," Supratman said.
"These were cases that would otherwise have proceeded to the judicial process. But thankfully, with Legal Aid Posts, we have been able to resolve them through a restorative justice approach," he said.
Supratman also conveyed that by resolving 14,000 legal cases through mediation, the state can save up to Rp1.2 trillion (about US$73.6 million). He also conveyed President Prabowo’s instructions for all government ministries and agencies to continue improving their operations and maintaining clean governance.
"The core of the President's first message is that the government that we lead, both in ministries and institutions, must all be clean," Supratman said.
