Luhut: Digitalization and AI Strengthen Jakarta’s Investment Ecosystem

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the Jakarta Provincial Government’s efforts to promote digitalization and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) could strengthen the credibility of Jakarta’s investment ecosystem.

“I believe what the Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, has done is a good step, as we continue to build credibility,” Luhut noted during the Jakarta Investment Festival 2026 in Jakarta on Friday, 28 August.

Luhut stated that strengthening credibility through digitalization could increase investor confidence in investing in Jakarta. According to him, the government has begun implementing AI-based digitalization programs across various processes, including investment services and licensing.

“We have now started an AI-based digitalization program for all licensing processes,” he highlighted.

Luhut said digitalization and the use of AI are expected to create a more credible investment ecosystem while accelerating various processes related to business activities. He added that the development of digital systems is also aimed at improving efficiency and transparency in government services.

Luhut noted that synergy between the central government, regional governments, and relevant institutions is important to create an investment ecosystem capable of supporting national economic growth.

“All inter-agency data is also being managed digitally and supported by AI,” Luhut said.

Luhut also emphasized that the government has begun integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the e-Katalog system to improve efficiency in government procurement of goods and services. He said the move could potentially save up to 30 percent of the budget.

“Through the integration of the e-Katalog, we held a meeting at my office yesterday, and we were able to save around 20 to 30 percent of the budget,” Luhut said.

Luhut explained that the implementation of AI in the government procurement system is aimed at improving processes while reducing potential irregularities that had previously been identified. According to him, system integration and the use of AI have already demonstrated results in improving procurement budget efficiency.
