Parliament and Government Finalize 28 Laws

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Puan Maharani stated that the parliament, together with the government, has finalized 28 bills into law since the start of the 2024 legislative session until the most recent session.

"Commission I finalized three laws, Commission II finalized ten laws, Commission III finalized three laws, Commission VI finalized two laws, Commission VII finalized one law, Commission VIII finalized one law, Commission XI finalized two laws, and Commission XIII finalized two laws," Puan said in her state address at the Parliament Building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday, August 14, 2026.

She continued by noting that the House's Legislation Body (Baleg) had finalized three laws, while the Special Committee (Pansus) had finalized one law as of mid-2026.

"As we enter the third year, the people's expectations to enjoy the fruits of development will grow, as will their desire for policies that have a tangible impact on their daily lives," Puan said.

Regarding the current session, Puan stated that the House and the government would focus deliberations on 14 bills currently in the "Level I Discussion" stage. The House will also continue working on 43 bills in the drafting stage, including the Bill on Asset Forfeiture.

"The bill is currently in the stage of gathering meaningful public input, which will strengthen the legislation's substance and ensure its legitimacy," Puan said.

She emphasized that the quality of law‑making is measured not by the number of laws passed, but by how much they truly benefit the public. "The process of drafting any law always involves political dynamics—whether among factions, between the House and the government, or in the articulation of public aspirations," said Puan.
