Financial Literacy and Inclusion Among Indonesians Increased in 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS), alongside the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), released the results of the 2026 National Survey on Financial Literacy and Inclusion (SNLIK). The joint announcement was presented in Jakarta on Monday, 10 August 2026.

The Chair of the OJK’s Board of Commissioners, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, stated during the press conference that Indonesia’s financial literacy and inclusion rates had increased significantly by 2026. According to her, this rise in the index demonstrates the expanding access to and understanding of various financial services among Indonesians.

“The 2026 National Financial Literacy Index has increased from 66.64 in 2025 to 69.57. Furthermore, the National Financial Inclusion Index has risen from 92.74 to 93.61 percent,” she stated.

Friderica further explained that these positive results have already surpassed the targets set in the 2025–2029 National Mid-Term Development Plan. She noted that the targets for 2029 were set at 69.35 percent for financial literacy and 93 percent for financial inclusion.

She said, “These 2026 financial literacy and inclusion achievements are even higher than those set in the 2025–2029 National Mid-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).”

SNLIK serves as both an evaluation and a mapping tool for the state of financial literacy and inclusion among Indonesians. The 2026 SNLIK marks a historic milestone as it was the first year this survey was conducted through joint collaboration among three institutions, namely BPS, OJK, and LPS.

For the first time in 2026, the collaboration successfully expanded the sample size sevenfold and produced province-level data mapping. This expansion reached 75,000 respondents aged 15–79 spanning 38 provinces and 514 regencies/cities, a significant increase from 10,800 respondents in 120 regencies/cities the previous year.
