Prabowo Receives Report on B50 Progress and Mandatory Bioethanol Readiness

RRI.CO.ID, Cibinong – Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto, received a progress report on the mandatory B50 Program, which encourages the use of a 50 percent biodiesel-50 percent solar mix, and infrastructure readiness for the bioethanol mandate. The report was delivered by the President Director of the state-owned energy company Pertamina, Simon A. Mantiri, during a meeting with the President at his residence in Bogor Regency, West Java, on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

In a written statement, the country's Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, stated that Simon reported on the progress of the B50 program, launched by President Prabowo last July. The program is one of the government's steps to strengthen Indonesian energy independence and resilience by increasing the use of domestic energy sources.

"The President Director of Pertamina reported on the progress of the Mandatory B50 (50% Biodiesel) Program launched by President Prabowo last July, as well as the readiness of infrastructure in the preparation phase for the government's mandatory bioethanol program," Teddy said as quoted from the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat on Monday, August 10, 2026.

In addition to discussing the energy security agenda, Prabowo also guided the improvement in the governance of state-owned enterprises (SOEs). He ordered the reduction of organizational layers and subsidiaries at Pertamina, as well as the electricity company PLN and other enterprises.

"During the meeting, President Prabowo also ordered the reduction of layers and subsidiaries of companies in Pertamina, PLN, and other state-owned enterprises," the cabinet secretary wrote

This structural simplification is aimed at creating more agile and productive SOEs. With a shorter bureaucratic chain, decision-making is expected to be faster while maintaining their efficiency.

"The cuts are aimed at accelerating decision-making, increasing productivity, and maintaining the efficiency of all state-owned enterprises," the Cabinet Secretary said.

The secretariat conveyed the meeting stressed two major agendas that Prabowo continues to push. Those are building energy independence using the strength of national resources and ensuring that state-owned enterprises are managed more effectively, efficiently, and oriented towards the interests of the state and the people.
