RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Habiburokhman, reaffirmed its commitment to expediting deliberations on the Asset Confiscation Bill. He said deliberations are currently in the drafting stage, prioritizing public participation as part of the lawmaking process.

Commission III is one of 13 commissions within the DPR for the 2024-2029 period. Its scope is in the fields of law, human rights, and security.

Habiburokhman conveyed President Prabowo Subianto's Gerindra Party, the drafting was conducted openly, gathering as much input as possible from various groups. He stated that Commission III also used its recess period to gather public input in several regions to ensure that the bill's substance truly addressed the needs of law enforcement in Indonesia.

"We will accelerate the process of drafting this Asset Confiscation Bill, starting from its drafting. We are currently drafting the law, and we want to involve as many people as possible," Habiburokhman said during a public hearing at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Monday, August 3, 2026, as quoted from dpr.dpr.go.id.

He explained that during the recess period, Commission III visited three provinces: North Kalimantan, North Maluku, and Central Papua. During these visits, various public aspirations regarding the Asset Confiscation Bill were gathered as material for refining the draft law.

The House hoped that the public input would strengthen the substance of the regulations in the Asset Confiscation Bill. Hence, it has a comprehensive foundation and can support efforts to eradicate criminal acts and recover assets resulting from crime.

On that occasion, Habiburokhman also expressed his appreciation to the speakers who attended the hearing as part of the process of deepening the draft law's material. He stated that the insights of experienced legal practitioners provided crucial input in drafting the regulation.

"We would like to express our gratitude once again to today's speakers, two super-senior lawyers, Mr. Maqdir Ismail and Mr. Juniver Girsang, who undoubtedly have extensive experience in law enforcement," he concluded.
