RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), a state-owned enterprise providing ferry transportation services and port management, will implement full restricted access policy at six major ports starting Wednesday, 5 August 2026, to enhance national ferry safety. This policy will officially take effect at the ports of Merak, Bakauheni, Ketapang, Gilimanuk, Kayangan, and Lembar following a public awareness campaign.

This measure is part of operational modernization efforts to make port areas more orderly, safer, and compliant with international standards. Heru Widodo, President Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), stated that this policy emphasizes workplace safety.

“Starting 5 August, we are entering the full implementation phase of the restricted access policy at the six major ports. This is not merely a change in port area management, but also a shift in operational culture that prioritizes safety, security, and discipline,” Heru said in a press release on Sunday, 2 August 2026.

Thorough preparations have been made, including the implementation of facial recognition systems, the optimization of the One Gate System, and the distribution of personal protective equipment. In addition, ASDP has also upgraded facilities such as barriers, lighting, CCTV, and vehicle parking areas.

The implementation of these policy measures is tailored to the needs and operational characteristics of each port. The success of this program is the result of close collaboration with regulators, security forces, local governments, and the community.

Corporate Secretary of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), Windy Andale, also emphasized the importance of inter-agency synergy. She is optimistic that the implementation of the restriction access at these six major ports will serve as a significant milestone in the modernization of national ferry services.

“The support we have received during the outreach phase through the implementation preparation demonstrates a shared commitment to make port areas safer, more orderly, and more compliant with international standards. Restriction access is a collective step toward building ferry services that are increasingly professional and safety-oriented,” Windy said.
