RRI.CO.ID, South Tapanuli – Commercial vehicle drivers in South Tapanuli, North Sumatra, are beginning to experience firsthand the implementation of B50 biodiesel fuel in Indonesia. Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Yuliot, personally inspected this field implementation at the Sipirok Public Fueling Station (SPBU) on Friday, July 31, 2026.

A number of local drivers reported experiencing no significant issues with the performance of their vehicles’ engines after switching to B50. One of them is Nainggolan, a 47-year-old pickup truck driver who transports salted fish.

“After using B50, there haven’t been any problems with our engines at all—everything’s running smoothly,” Nainggolan said, as quoted in a ministry press release.

Herwin Siregar, a public transportation driver on the Medan-Sipahutar route who makes a six-hour round trip daily, shared a similar experience. According to him, the fuel ensures his vehicle’s engine continues to operate safely.

“I’ve been using Biosolar for a long time in my Mitsubishi L300 public transport vehicle on the Medan to Sipahutar route. Every day I fill up with 450,000 for a 6-hour trip—the engine runs smoothly, with only a slight difference when driving uphill,” he said.

The government continues to monitor fuel distribution while listening to consumer feedback to ensure the smooth implementation of the B50 program among the public. This field inspection is part of an ongoing evaluation of the national biofuel supply.

“We’re checking fuel supplies across all regions, and I see that the supply is running fairly smoothly. In addition to checking the smooth flow of fuel, we also want to assess the implementation of the B50 program; we need to see how it’s being applied on the ground,” Yuliot said.
