RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Around 1,000 fishing vessels at the Tawang Fish Auction Site (TPI) in Kendal, Central Java, rely on subsidized diesel fuel supplies.

The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas), the Indonesian Ombudsman, and Pertamina Patra Niaga are directly supervising distribution in the area to ensure the fuel reaches its intended recipients.

BPH Migas Head Wahyudi Anas said the monitoring guarantees smooth distribution of subsidized diesel to eligible fishermen. “This ensures that diesel fuel is distributed smoothly to the right fishermen, is not resold, and is not consumed by non‑fishermen,” Wahyudi said in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He explained that of the 1,082 vessels registered at TPI Tawang, most are fishing boats under 30 GT. About 1,000 of these are 5 GT vessels, which are the primary users of subsidized diesel. “On average, we collect 300–500 fuel recommendation letters per day, depending on fishermen’s activities at sea,” he said.

Wahyudi added that distribution management at the Tawang Fishermen’s Gas Station has been running well. Pertamina Patra Niaga also arranges early deliveries so fishermen can access subsidized diesel during service hours, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time.

BPH Migas Committee member Hasbi Anshory said field supervision is carried out to ensure subsidies reach eligible fishermen. His office is also encouraging improved service at Fishermen’s Gas Stations to make distribution more orderly and eliminate queues.

“We are also ensuring that gas station service is free of queues and that subsidized fuel reaches its intended target,” Hasbi said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman, Rahmadi Indra Tektona, assessed that distribution services for fishermen have been running well. He expressed hope that the queuing mechanism will continue to be refined, for example by using a queue number system, to make the diesel filling process more efficient.

“This will ultimately make it easier for fishermen to work, which will hopefully result in more income for their families and contribute to regional development,” Rahmadi said. ***
