RRI.CO.ID, Jayapura – The Indonesian government inaugurated the new headquarters of Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) Jayapura to strengthen public broadcasting services in Papua. The ceremony took place in Jayapura on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.

The new building replaces the previous RRI Jayapura office, which collapsed after the February 2023 earthquake. It is expected to improve public access to reliable broadcasting and information services across Papua.

Representing the Governor of Papua, Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Office, Jeri Agus Yudianto, said RRI remains a strategic public broadcaster. He said RRI serves as a source of information, education, wholesome entertainment, and national unity.

The Papua Provincial Government encouraged RRI to remain adaptive amid rapid digital transformation. It also expects the broadcaster to deliver accurate, balanced, and trustworthy information while promoting Papua's cultural heritage.

Jayapura Mayor Abisai Rollo emphasized the importance of innovation and collaboration in responding to changing media consumption habits. He said stronger partnerships between RRI, local governments, and stakeholders would enhance public services and regional development.

Meanwhile, President Director of Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI), Hendrasmo, expressed appreciation for the continued support from regional governments and institutional partners. He said their collaboration has been essential to sustaining RRI's public broadcasting services.

The inauguration was attended by RRI's Board of Supervisors, regional government officials, representatives from various ministries, indigenous community representatives, media leaders, and retired RRI broadcasters. Their presence reflected broad support for strengthening public broadcasting services in eastern Indonesia.

The new headquarters is expected to improve broadcasting quality and encourage more innovative journalism for Papua. It also reinforces RRI's role in connecting communities with reliable public information.
