RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming Indonesia’s workforce, reshaping demand across sectors and requiring workers to continuously upgrade their skills to meet industry needs.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Manpower, Cris Kuntadi, said AI has become a major catalyst for change in workplace dynamics, learning methods, and even the way the government designs public policies.

“The Ministry of Manpower’s primary mandate is to ensure that our workforce is not left behind. The challenge is not just providing training but also ensuring that it remains relevant to industry developments. This is where the role of AI becomes crucial,” Cris said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday, July 20, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He explained that AI can help map workforce needs more quickly, identify gaps requiring immediate attention, develop adaptive training programs, and support data-driven decision-making.

However, Cris emphasized that technology will not make quality human resources obsolete. The success of digital transformation, he said, depends on the readiness of government officials and workers to adapt to change.

Workers are therefore encouraged to adopt an adaptive mindset and pursue continuous learning to remain competitive amid digital transformation.

“Let’s make AI a strategic partner to improve public services, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and boost the competitiveness of the Indonesian workforce on the global stage,” he said.

Cris expressed optimism that Indonesia has the resources to leverage AI for workforce competitiveness. He pointed to the country’s large labor force, spirit of mutual cooperation, and growing digital learning culture as strengths that can be combined with AI technology. ***
