RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) is strengthening the implementation of standards for Child‑Friendly Special Protection Institutions (LPKRA) to enhance protection for children facing legal proceedings (ABH).

Acting Deputy for the Fulfillment of Children’s Rights at the Ministry, Rini Handayani, said in Jakarta on Monday, June 29, 2026, that every child retains the right to protection, care, and services that respect their dignity and fundamental rights.

“The LPKRA standards are not merely an assessment tool. They represent a shared commitment to ensuring that every child in conflict with the law receives protection and high‑quality services,” Rini said.

She emphasized that children must be treated as individuals with the right to be heard, protected, and supported. “This ensures they have the opportunity to recover, develop, and make the most of their future,” she added.

Rini noted that capacity‑building for service‑providing institutions must encompass policies, governance, human resources, and facilities. She stressed that cross‑sectoral collaboration is key to building a comprehensive and sustainable child protection system.

“Through the implementation of LPKRA standards, we aim to ensure every child receives safe, inclusive, and high‑quality services, while simultaneously strengthening the child protection system to foster high‑caliber human resources in preparation for Golden Indonesia 2045,” Rini said.

Executive Director of the Indonesian Family Planning Association (PKBI), Leni Jakaria, assessed that applying LPKRA standards can strengthen protection for children in conflict with the law. She emphasized that services must prioritize the fulfillment of every child’s rights, needs, and best interests without discrimination.

“Every child has the right to protection and the opportunity to develop to their full potential without stigma or discrimination. Therefore, all parties must ensure that services create a safe space and respect the dignity of the child,” Leni said.

Director of Detention and Child Services at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, Masjuno, reaffirmed the commitment to improving service quality for children. These efforts aim to strengthen protection, guidance, and the fulfillment of children’s rights within the correctional system.

“Cross‑sectoral collaboration is a crucial foundation for ensuring that every child receives guidance and protection in accordance with their rights,” Masjuno said.
