RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency is ready to collaborate with the Indonesian Buddhist Representatives (Walubi) to ensure the success of the 2026 Indonesian National Vesak celebrations at Borobudur Temple. This synergy is projected to stimulate the regional creative economy.

Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, stated that the joint commitment can begin with digital promotion, strengthening the ecosystem in special economic zones, and optimizing the multiplier effect of the 2026 Indonesian National Vesak celebrations.

"The Ministry of Creative Economy's role is to support intellectual property (IP) events, such as the National Vesak celebration, whose IP has a commercial impact with a multiplier effect. This aligns with the ministry's Key Performance Index (KPI) or President Prabowo's mandate regarding GDP growth, exports, employment, and investment," the Minister stated at the Ministry's office on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

He also encouraged collaboration with content creators and the use of social media to expand the promotional reach of major religious celebrations at Borobudur Temple.

"This will further expand the reach of this national-scale event, both domestically and internationally. We can also coordinate with the Ministry of Creative Economy's public relations team to help strengthen the event's IP positioning through media publications for each series of events," the Minister said.

According to a release received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Friday, May 1, 2026 in Jakarta, the Vesak celebrations will take place throughout May 2026, starting with the cleaning of Heroes' Cemeteries throughout Indonesia (May 3), health social services (May 23-24), a procession from Mendut Temple to Borobudur Temple, and the release of peace lanterns (May 31), among other exciting activities.

"For over 30 years, we have been organizing Vesak celebrations. Our visit is to request the presence of the Minister of Creative Economy at this year's Vesak celebrations. Our target is to have around 250,000 people from around the world come to witness the event. Moreover, the National Vesak Celebration will be a valuable moment with significant economic impact for Magelang and the surrounding area," Karuna Murdaya, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee.

Karuna Murdaya also revealed that this activity focuses not only on religious aspects but also provides direct benefits to the surrounding community. The event will be held simultaneously in 55 cities across 21 provinces, including community service and free healthcare services, reaching 10,000 people.

"We want the Ministry of Creative Economy to also promote the event held at Borobudur Temple, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. We also invite all influencers and content creators to come to this spectacular event because there are many interesting activities based on storytelling, thus providing a good opportunity to raise profiles and also gain partnerships with companies to support culture and tourism in Central Java," Karuna Murdaya conveyed.
