RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian band Mocca’s China tour is opening opportunities to expand Indonesia’s creative music industry and strengthen people-to-people ties between Indonesia and China through cultural exchange.
The Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Guangzhou supported Mocca’s "China Unforgotten Tour," which featured concerts in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, as an effort to introduce Indonesian creative works to Chinese audiences.
"We fully support every effort to promote Indonesia's creative industry in China, particularly in the areas covered by KJRI Guangzhou," Indonesian Consul General Arianto Surojo said in a written statement in Beijing on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
The Guangzhou concert on Sunday, September 27, marked the final performance of Mocca’s China tour. The band performed 19 songs at Livehouse MAO Guangzhou for its fans, known as "Mocca Friends."
"We hope Indonesia's creative industries, including music, can be embraced by the Chinese public and become a bridge to strengthen people-to-people relations between the two countries while expanding economic opportunities for Indonesia's creative sector," Arianto said.
During the concert, vocalist Arina also performed the Mandarin song "Cai Yun Zhui Yue" (彩云追月), which tells a story of longing for a loved one across the sea, with the moon symbolizing hope for reunion.
The song was considered particularly fitting as the performance coincided with China's Mid-Autumn holiday, which is closely associated with the moon and mooncakes. "We wanted to try the Chinese market after being delayed for several years," said Toma, Mocca's bassist.
The band, comprising Arina on vocals and flute, Riko on guitar, Toma on bass and Indra on drums, also performed hits including "I Remember," "Secret Admirer," "Be My Bee," "Me Against the World" and "Me and My Boyfriend."
"We are impressed by the development of the creative industry in China, with supportive platforms such as well-equipped concert venues like this one," Riko said.

One audience member, Anita, traveled by plane for an hour from Haikou, Hainan Province, to attend Mocca’s concert.
Handshake Records, the Chinese independent label supporting the tour and serving as Mocca’s partner in introducing the band to China, also expressed satisfaction with the response from audiences and Mocca Friends in the country, although the fan base remains smaller than in Indonesia.
The label plans to organize another Mocca concert in China next year.
China is an important partner for Indonesia in various areas, including trade, investment, social affairs and culture. Creative industries such as music can also play a role in strengthening people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. ***
