RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s family recreation sector is set for expanded growth as the Ministry of Tourism promotes investment and technological innovation at Fun Asia Expo 2026, Southeast Asia’s largest recreation industry exhibition.

Taking place at JIEXPO Kemayoran in Jakarta from August 5 to 6, 2026, the two-day event gathers over 150 exhibitors from 12 countries. The expo connects theme park and water park operators, attraction developers, technology providers, and international investors to enhance the national tourism ecosystem.

Ministry data underscores the sector's momentum: foreign tourist arrivals reached 7.45 million through June 2026, marking a 5.71 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, domestic tourist trips rose to 630.41 million, reflecting a 2.71 percent growth year-on-year.

Officials highlighted that family-centered leisure destinations act as primary drivers for extending tourist stay durations and boosting visitor spending. Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa emphasized the strategic role of family recreation in quality tourism development.

"The consistency of holding this exhibition demonstrates a strong commitment to building the family recreation industry in Indonesia," she said in Jakarta on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, as quoted on Ministry's official website.

She affirmed that developing quality family attractions aligns with national strategy to raise tourism competitiveness while driving long-term economic value. "When we build recreation parks and various other attractions, we are not merely building a destination, but also providing shared spaces capable of enhancing the quality of the travel experience," she added

According to her, Indonesia has immense potential to develop the family recreation industry, supported by growing international and domestic tourist numbers as well as a deeply rooted intergenerational gathering culture. Fun Asia Expo 2026 serves as a space to exchange ideas, build partnerships, unlock investment opportunities, and foster innovations that will strengthen our national recreation ecosystem. ***
