RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - A Ukrainian citizen, Bohdan Lohush, is standing trial in Bali after prosecutors charged him with carrying more than 1.3 kilograms of mephedrone, a Category I narcotic, into Indonesia.
Prosecutor Ni Made Suasti Ariani, reading the indictment at Denpasar District Court on Tuesday, September 29, detailed that Lohush arrived at Ngurah Rai International Airport on May 21, 2026, from Warsaw via Doha.
“The defendant brought 937 capsules and one packet of white powder which, after laboratory examination, were proven to contain mephedrone," she said, as quoted by Antara.
Customs officers flagged his luggage as suspicious, leading to a search that uncovered 937 capsules and a packet of white powder. Laboratory tests confirmed the substances contained mephedrone.
Investigators found the capsules stored in bottles labeled “ARG Arginine” and “AMIX,” while the powder was in a container marked “BIOTECHUSA.”
In total, the seized narcotics weighed 1,367.70 grams gross (951.64 grams net). Lohush allegedly told authorities he believed the items were sports supplements purchased in Poland to support gym activities.
Police also confiscated his Oppo Reno 11F 5G phone, boarding pass, and electronic customs declaration. Forensic analysis, however, confirmed the capsules and powder were narcotics, not supplements.
The indictment states Lohush violated Article 610(2)(a) of Indonesia’s Criminal Code (Law No. 1/2023) in conjunction with Law No. 1/2026 on sentencing adjustments. Prosecutors emphasized the drugs were not intended for scientific or technological purposes.
If convicted, Lohush faces severe penalties under Indonesia’s strict narcotics laws, which carry lengthy prison terms and heavy fines. ***
