RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia's support for Palestinian independence is an unwavering principle. He made the statement at the 28th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB) in Jakarta on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

Prabowo stated that Indonesia will continue to pursue an independent and active foreign policy while respecting all countries and world powers. As a non-aligned nation, he said Indonesia does not wish to have enemies or interfere with other countries.

"We are grateful that we are non-aligned, we have no adversaries, we respect all countries, we respect all powers. We want to be free and active," the president said, as quoted from the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat.

President Prabowo claimed his administration's foreign policy is based on the principle of good neighborliness. Indonesia, he said, seeks to establish friendly and cooperative relations with all parties without compromising its freedom of choice.

"Indonesia's foreign policy under the administration led by President Prabowo Subianto is one of good neighborliness. The good neighbor policy. We want to be good neighbors," Prabowo said.

"We are friendly to all powers, but one thing we cannot negotiate is supporting the Palestinian struggle for independence," he continued.

On that occasion, the president also stated that Indonesia is committed to peace and has no intention of interfering with other nations. However, Indonesia will continue to defend its sovereignty, independence, and future if it faces any threats.

"We don't seek to disrupt other nations. But all Indonesians will defend the country's sovereignty, independence, and future," Prabowo concluded.

Prabowo stressed that Indonesia will continue to consistently pursue a "free and active" foreign policy, foster friendship with all nations, and remain steadfast in upholding humanity, justice, and the right of every nation to live independently.

The PKB is a centrist, Islam-based political party closely affiliated, but not formally linked to, with one of the world's largest Islamic organizations, Nahdlatul Ulama. Founded shortly after the fall of former president Soeharto's New Order rule in 1998, it has secured 68 out of 580 seats (11.7%) at the House of Representatives (DPR), and is a part of Prabowo's government coalition.
