Indonesian Govt Meets Precision Manufacturing Industry in Nagoya

RRI.CO.ID, Nagoya – Aiming to strengthen economic cooperation between Indonesia and Japan, the Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Susiwijono Moegiarso, visited Kouwa-Tec Co., Ltd. in Nagoya, Japan, on Friday, September 18, 2026. During the visit, the delegation was accompanied by the leadership of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) and welcomed by Kouwa-Tec President Toshinobu Hayashi and Chief of Sales Department Takaya Hayashi.

He stated that Kouwa-Tec's expertise in precision manufacturing serves as a vital example of developing technology-based, high-value-added industries. Despite operating on a small scale, Kouwa-Tec has proven resilient against global manufacturing competitors and has successfully weathered multiple economic crises and the pandemic.

"We highly appreciate Kouwa-Tec's expertise in precision manufacturing for the aerospace, medical, and semiconductor industries. Such capabilities are essential for Indonesia as we strengthen high-value-added industries, precision manufacturing, and the technology ecosystem," Susiwijono remarked.

This visit served as an opportunity for the Indonesian Government to observe Japan's precision manufacturing capabilities firsthand and exchange views on potential partnerships in precision manufacturing, aerospace, semiconductors, medical devices, and next-generation technologies. Kouwa-Tec brings over 60 years of experience and has earned the trust of major aerospace and aircraft corporations, such as Boeing, to supply critical components.

Established in 1965 and based in Aichi Prefecture, Kouwa-Tec specializes in precision machine parts processing for the aerospace, semiconductor, and medical industries, as well as prototype development.

Currently, Kouwa-Tec operates four manufacturing facilities and holds ISO 9001 and JIS Q 9100 certifications. True to its philosophy of "pioneering new things," the company also develops precision components for next-generation technologies, including hydrogen drones and eVTOLs.

According to Susiwijono, the enduring relationship between Indonesia and Japan provides a solid foundation to continuously expand economic and industrial cooperation. "With Indonesia’s growing market and commitment to industrial transformation, we see immense potential to build partnerships with Kouwa-Tec, spanning investments, technology transfer, and human resource development," he added.

This reinforced cooperation is further supported by the Protocol to Amend the Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA), which was ratified through Presidential Regulation Number 32 of Year 2026. This updated IJEPA is expected to enhance market access, investments, technology transfer, capacity building, and bilateral industrial integration within the global supply chain.
