Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo Supports Women’s Volleyball Team at 2026 Asian Games

RRI.CO.ID, Aichi - The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo provided direct support to the Indonesian Women’s Volleyball Team competing at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games by attending its match against host Japan at Park Arena Komaki, Aichi, on Friday, September 18, 2026. In the match, the Indonesian Women’s Volleyball Team, led by Mediol Stiovanny Yoku, fell to Japan 1-3.

Coordinator of the Information, Social, and Cultural Affairs Function at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Muhammad Al Aula, praised the players’ fighting spirit as they sought to uphold Indonesia’s name at the sporting event.

“I salute the Indonesian women’s volleyball team for their efforts. It was a very exciting match, although Indonesia had to acknowledge Japan’s 3-1 victory. Indonesia displayed its best performance in the third set. However, we lost several opportunities in the fourth set, and we have to acknowledge the home team’s performance,” he said.

He expressed hope that the Indonesian Women’s Volleyball Team would perform better in its next match. The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, he added, would continue to support Indonesian athletes competing at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Muhammad Al Aula attended the match accompanied by Elvitria Intan Novita, a Senior Administrative Officer at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo.

In the match, Indonesia started strongly and put up a fight against Japan. However, Japan won the first set 25-19 before extending its lead with a 25-13 victory in the second set.

Indonesia then bounced back in the third set, winning 25-23. The fourth set saw both teams exchange points in a closely contested battle. Indonesia briefly led with 18 points, but Japan managed to turn the match around and close out the set 25-23, securing a 3-1 victory.

The Indonesian Women’s Volleyball Team will next face Thailand in the quarterfinals, scheduled for September 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Japan Standard Time.
