Immigration Patrol Leads to Deportation of Three Chinese Nationals

RRI.CO.ID, Kendari - A public complaint has led immigration authorities in Southeast Sulawesi to uncover violations involving three Chinese nationals, underscoring ongoing efforts to strengthen monitoring of foreign nationals' activities in Indonesia.

The Southeast Sulawesi Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration will deport the three Chinese nationals after they were found engaging in activities that violated the terms of their residence permits.

Regional Immigration Chief Azwar Anas said on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, in Kendari that the individuals, identified by their initials GY, WL, and CF, were discovered living and working in North Konawe Regency.

The case began with a public complaint submitted through the immigration office’s reporting service on September 10. Following verification, the Immigration Supervision and Enforcement Team conducted a patrol and inspected the workers’ residence the next morning.

“The investigation showed that the three Chinese nationals were carrying out activities inconsistent with the purpose of their residence permits,” Azwar explained, as quoted by Antara.

Based on official checks and the investigation report, the three were deemed to have violated Article 122(a) of Indonesia’s Immigration Law, which prohibits misuse of residence permits. They will face administrative sanctions in the form of deportation.

The deportation is scheduled for September 17, 2026, via Soekarno‑Hatta International Airport in cooperation with airport immigration authorities.

Azwar emphasized that the enforcement reflects Indonesia’s selective immigration policy, which allows entry and stay only for foreigners who comply with regulations and contribute positively to the country.

“Only foreign nationals who provide benefits and respect Indonesian law are permitted to live and work here,” he said.

The case underscores the Indonesian government’s commitment to safeguarding national security and ensuring that immigration rules are upheld across the country. ***
