RRI.CO.ID, Japan - The Indonesian Festival in Chiba, organized by Maha-job.com, attracted nearly 15,000 visitors over two days. The number far exceeded the organizer's initial projection of around 5,000 visitors.

The festival, held at Chiba City Chuo Park, Japan, from August 8-9, 2026, became the first event to bring together Indonesian and Japanese cultures. The event featured art, music, cuisine, and interactive activities for people from both countries.

One of the organizers said the festival was not merely aimed at introducing Indonesian culture to Japanese people. The event also provided a space for people from both countries to get to know each other through direct cultural experiences.

“The public's enthusiasm far exceeded expectations and became a responsibility for us to continue improving the quality of the event," the organizer said in a written statement on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

"We will use all the experiences in Chiba as evaluation material so that future events can be safer and more comfortable,” the statement continued.

The festival concept not only showcased Indonesian culture but also provided space for Japanese culture. Visitors could watch Reog Ponorogo, traditional Indonesian dances, Taiko, and Yosakoi.

Direct interaction was one of the festival's main attractions. Visitors had the opportunity to try playing Taiko, participate in Yosakoi dances, and even try riding Reog under the supervision of the organizers.

Indonesian and Japanese communities could also enjoy food and various activities in an open-air setting. The concept was designed to strengthen interaction and introduce the cultures of both countries more closely.

The high number of visitors also had a positive impact on MSMEs and culinary tenants. Several tenants even experienced demand beyond expectations, with food supplies for two days selling out on the first day.

The organizers also paid attention to security and order during the festival. Maha-job.com coordinated with local police to monitor and patrol the venue.

The organizers acknowledged several spontaneous incidents involving disturbances before the event ended on Sunday. Based on the organizer's monitoring, some incidents were allegedly triggered by visitors who had consumed alcohol before entering the festival area.

Maha-job.com emphasized that it did not sell alcoholic beverages inside the festival area. The organizers also apologized if the incidents caused inconvenience to visitors.

In addition to security, visitor density became an important point for the organizers' evaluation. The number of visitors, nearly three times the initial projection, made several festival areas extremely crowded.

Waste management was also a concern during the event. The organizers provided trash bins and carried out regular waste collection to maintain cleanliness in the festival area.

After the festival ended, the organizers continued cleaning Chiba City Chuo Park. Some organizers even returned on Monday morning to inspect and clean up the remaining event waste.

The public's enthusiasm became an evaluation point for Maha-job.com for future events. The evaluation covers venue capacity, visitor flow, facilities, security, waste management, and coordination with relevant parties.

Maha-job.com hopes the Indonesia Festival in Chiba can continue to grow and become a meeting space for Indonesian and Japanese communities. The event is expected to strengthen interaction while introducing the cultural diversity of both countries. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
