Indonesia Repatriates 81 Migrant Workers From Malaysia

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur repatriated 81 Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) from Malaysia via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Friday evening, September 11, 2026.

“Alhamdulillah, today the Embassy has repatriated PMI who were facing legal issues from two Immigration Detention Centers (DTI),” Deputy Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Danang Waskito said in Selangor on Friday, as quoted by Antara.

Of the total, 50 migrant workers came from DTI Semenyih and 31 from DTI Beranang.

The migrant workers were flown home in three groups on Citilink, Batik Air, and AirAsia flights. One group was headed to Jakarta, while the other two groups were bound for Medan, North Sumatra.

Danang said the repatriation reflects the government’s commitment to protecting Indonesian citizens abroad. “We hope we can continue providing the best service to our migrant workers in Malaysia,” he said.

The repatriation process received support from Immigration and Corrections Minister Agus Andrianto and Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko. Both officials previously visited DTI Semenyih with the Embassy’s Immigration Attaché, Idul Adheman, to meet the detained migrant workers in person.

The government also provided travel assistance to several migrant workers to help them return to Indonesia. The Embassy coordinated the repatriation process with Malaysian immigration authorities through KLIA. ***
