Indonesia Expands Healthcare Exports Through Pakistan Market

RRI.CO.ID, Karachi - Indonesia is using Pakistan’s high import dependence in healthcare as an opportunity to expand exports of medical equipment, hospital supplies and consumer healthcare products through the Indonesian Medica Pavilion at Health Asia Expo & Conference 2026.

Indonesia is participating as the country partner at Pakistan’s largest healthcare industry exhibition. The pavilion was officially opened by Pakistan Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal and Indonesian Consul General in Karachi Mudzakir through a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The expo held from September 10-12, 2026.

“We want Indonesian companies not only to participate in the exhibition, but also to understand the market, find the right partners and build sustainable business relationships,” Consul general Mudzakir said in a statement on Thursday, September 10, as quoted by Antara.

He said that the consulate has connected Indonesian delegates with Pakistani importers, distributors, hospitals and industry associations, including the Healthcare Devices Association of Pakistan (HDAP).

“Our target is concrete: turning meetings into connections, connections into business prospects, and eventually into trade and real industrial cooperation,” he said.

The Indonesian Medica Pavilion features the Indonesian Medical Device Ecosystem Development Association (HIPELKI) along with national manufacturers such as PT Sugih Instrumento Abadi, PT Ocean Medica and PT Eagle Indo Pharma. The products on display include medical equipment, hospital supplies and consumer healthcare products.

Indonesia sees strong export opportunities in Pakistan, where the medical device market was estimated at USD 700 million in 2025, with imports accounting for 90 percent of the market.

Pakistan’s pharmaceutical sector is also projected to reach USD 6.6 billion by 2030 and continues to rely on imports for around 85 percent of its pharmaceutical raw materials.

The 23rd edition of Health Asia is attended by around 45 countries and is expected to attract more than 30,000 business visitors. The UFI-certified international event also features conferences on digital healthcare, laboratory technology and surgical services. ***
