FM Sugiono: Indonesia-Russia Reinforces Strategic Partnership

RRI.CO.ID, Vladivostok – Indonesia's Foreign Affairs Minister, Sugiono, said Indonesia and Russia had reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the Indonesia-Russia Strategic Partnership across various fields. He made the statement following a bilateral meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

Minister Sugiono said that as strategic partners, Indonesia and Russia would continue working together to deepen relations in areas of mutual interest.

“Indonesia and Russia will continue working together to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including the economy, maritime connectivity and infrastructure, as well as people-to-people relations,” Sugiono said in a statement posted on X on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

According to Sugiono, Indonesia and Russia would continue to strengthen cooperation in various sectors of mutual interest. He said cooperation in the maritime, economic, and infrastructure sectors would continue to be strengthened.

“Indonesia and Russia will continue working closely to deepen cooperation in areas of shared interests, including in the economic, maritime connectivity and infrastructure, and people-to-people domains,” he said.

The bilateral meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and President Vladimir Putin was held on the sidelines of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok in a working lunch format. During the meeting, Prabowo also conveyed his congratulations on Russia’s National Day on June 12, 2026, as well as the 35th ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit held on June 18, 2026.

President Prabowo also emphasized that his presence in Vladivostok was a gesture of respect and an effort to fulfill Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening relations with Russia.

The meeting was also attended by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Indonesian Ambassador to the Russian Federation and concurrently accredited to Belarus Jose Antonio Morato Tavares.
