Anis Matta Reaffirms Indonesia’s Commitment to Palestinian Independence

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia's Vice Foreign Affairs Minister, Anis Matta, reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people’s struggle for independence and condemned Israel’s expansion of illegal settlements in Palestinian territory.
Anis made the statement through his X account on Saturday, August 29, 2026, following his participation in the 23rd Extraordinary Ministerial Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
“Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to the Palestinian struggle for independence and condemns Israel’s expansion of illegal settlements on Palestinian land,” Anis wrote.
At the forum, Anis said Indonesia urged the OIC to take concrete steps to hold Israel accountable for various humanitarian crimes committed against the Palestinian people. Indonesia also called on the OIC to categorize violence carried out by illegal Israeli settlers as acts of terrorism.

In addition to the Palestinian issue, Anis congratulated Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed of Mauritania on his election as OIC Secretary-General for the 2026–2031 term. He said Indonesia is ready to support the OIC Secretary-General’s leadership in advancing the common interests of member states and promoting the welfare of the Muslim community.
