  • A team from Pertamina's Cilacap Refinery won a Gold Medal and a special award at the 12th International Exhibition of Invention (IEI) in Guangzhou, China.
  • The team was recognized for creating an engineered water treatment system (Mobile Reverse Osmosis) that improves water supply safety while helping reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

RRI.CO.ID, Guangzhou – Officers from the Pertamina Patra Niaga Refinery Unit (RU) in Cilacap have once again achieved a proud accomplishment on the international stage. At the 12th International Exhibition of Invention (IEI), held August 21–23, 2026, in Guangzhou, China, the Pertamix innovation team successfully won a Gold Medal.

According to a written press release on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the award was given for the innovation titled “Enhancing Treated Water Supply Security and Supporting Sustainable CO₂ Emission Reduction Through the Replication of an Engineered Mobile Reverse Osmosis (RO) System Configuration.” Not only that, but the Pertamix team’s innovation also received the special ARCA Medal from the Croatian Union of Innovators, as additional recognition for an innovation deemed to have excellence and implementation potential.

The Pertamix task force consists of four members. They are, Ipuk Suseno Budi Wiworo (Engineering & Development), Dexter Musa Siahaan (Engineering & Development), Ghifari Nurachmad (Production III), Adif Alfianto (Production III), and Eko Prasetyo (Maintenance Execution I).

Accompanying the event at the International Forum, Muhamad Hasan Ismail explained that the IEI 2026 is an international forum that brings together innovators, researchers, industry players, and institutions from various countries to showcase innovative works and technologies. He also noted that this event is part of the Belt & Road and BRICS Competition of Skills Development and Technology Innovation.

“This event is held as part of the Belt & Road and BRICS Competition of Skills Development and Technology Innovation,” Hasan, who is also the Human Capital (HC) Manager at RU Cilacap, said.

Pertamix cluster facilitator Ipuk Suseno Budi Wiworo added that the innovation presented focuses on improving the safety and reliability of treated water supply. This was achieved by replicating the configuration of a Mobile Reverse Osmosis (RO) system that had been engineered to support sustainable reductions in CO2 emissions.

“This technology is designed to provide flexibility in meeting water treatment needs, while also contributing to efforts to improve the refinery’s operational efficiency and sustainability,” he conveyed.
