  • Indonesia, Turkey, and 10 other countries condemned an Israeli strike on Syria's Abu Al-Duhur military base, calling it a serious violation of Syrian sovereignty and a dangerous regional escalation.
  • The 12 nations urged the international community to uphold the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and respect Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence.

RRI.CO.ID, Istanbul - Indonesia, alongside Turkey and ten other nations, issued a joint diplomatic statement on Friday, August 21, 2026, strongly condemning an Israeli military strike on the Abu Al-Duhur military base in Syria as an extreme escalation and a direct violation of Syrian sovereignty.

The joint declaration was signed by foreign ministers from Indonesia, Turkey, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mauritania, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Somalia. The ministers expressed deep concern over the continuous degradation of Syria's national infrastructure, warning that repeated strikes erode international law, threaten regional peace, and undermine ongoing efforts to rebuild Syrian state institutions following over a decade of conflict.

The coalition urged the international community to adopt a firm, principled stance, demanding strict compliance with the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Israel and Syria, alongside a complete withdrawal of occupying forces from Syrian territory.

Foreign ministers and diplomatic envoys emphasized that safeguarding Syrian territorial integrity remains critical to preventing broader regional instability and upholding the United Nations Charter. The multi-nation ministerial coalition issued a united stance regarding the broader implications of the military action.

The attack represents a clear violation of Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political unity. Continuous violations of Syrian territory by Israel only serve to heighten tensions, undermine regional stability, and erode the dignity of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

The foreign ministers further called on international institutions to enforce binding legal frameworks to stop further regional degradation.

We urge the international community to take a firm, clear, and principled stance in response to attacks on Syria. Respecting the sovereignty, independence, and political unity of Syria is essential to preventing further escalation and restoring peace across the region. ***
