RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Jakarta’s parliamentary complex turned into a diplomatic hub on Friday morning, August 14, 2026, as ambassadors from partner nations and senior cabinet ministers arrived for the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and Regional Representative Council (DPD).

The gathering sets the stage for President Prabowo Subianto’s state address ahead of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day. Among the foreign envoys present were India’s Ambassador Sandeep Chakravorty, Syria’s Abdulmonem Annan, Iran’s Mohammad Boroujerdi, Venezuela’s Enrique Antonio Acuna Mendoza, and South Africa’s Mpetjane Kgaogelo Lekgoro.

Their attendance underscores the international attention directed at Indonesia’s parliamentary proceedings, which combine institutional accountability with national celebration, Antara reported.

Cabinet members also arrived at the Nusantara Building, including Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, and Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar.

Other ministers in attendance were Food Affairs Minister Zulkifli Hasan, Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Village and Transmigration Minister Yandri Susanto, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, and Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Arifah Fauzi.

The 2026 Annual Session carries the theme Indonesia Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous. President Prabowo is expected to deliver two key addresses: a performance report on state institutions and a national speech marking the country’s 81st Independence Day. ***
