East Kalimantan’s Young Hafidz to Represent Indonesia in Morocco

RRI.CO.ID, Samarinda – Two young Qur’an reciters from East Kalimantan’s Institute for Qur’an Recitation Development (LPTQ) have been selected to represent Indonesia at the prestigious Mohammed VI International Prize for the Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation of the Holy Qur’an in Rabat, Morocco.

The delegation includes Muhammad Andi Saputra, winner of the men’s Arabic Tafsir category at the 2025 National STQH, and Aljuanda Kurniansyah, champion of the men’s 5 Juz Tahfiz category at the same event. Andi will compete in Tafsir, while Aljuanda will take part in Tajwid and Tahfiz.

East Kalimantan Provincial Secretary Sri Wahyuni, who also chairs LPTQ Kaltim, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the province.

“Alhamdulillah (All Praises to Allah), East Kalimantan has once again been entrusted to represent Indonesia. The delegation has departed for Morocco, and we pray their journey is eased and they achieve victory,” she said on Sunday, August 9, 2026, in Samarinda, as quoted by Antara.

She emphasized that the achievement reflects structured and consistent training programs in the region. “This success should inspire our younger generation to continue loving the Qur’an. Hopefully, this year we can bring home another title to add to our international record,” she added.

The 2026 Mohammed VI International Prize for Qur’an Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation is scheduled for August 10–12 at the Mohammed VI Institute for the Training of Imams in Rabat, with participants from more than 50 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.

East Kalimantan’s track record in global Qur’an competitions is already notable. In a previous edition, Ahmad Fadhil, another LPTQ-trained hafidz, won second place in the 5 Juz memorization and recitation category, bringing pride to Indonesia.

The participation of Andi and Aljuanda highlights Indonesia’s growing presence in international Qur’an competitions, the role of East Kalimantan’s LPTQ in nurturing talent, and the broader effort to inspire youth engagement with the Qur’an. ***
