Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Pakistan Sign Joint Defense Agreement

RRI.CO.ID, Mecca — Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan have signed a Joint Defense Agreement to strengthen collective security and promote peace, security, and stability in the region and beyond.

The agreement was signed by Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during a meeting at Al-Safa Palace in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on Friday, August 7, 2026.

The agreement was signed during Erdogan and Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. In a joint statement issued after the meeting, the three countries said the agreement reflects their shared commitment to further strengthening collective security and building a secure and prosperous future.

The agreement is also based on the longstanding historical ties among the three countries, including bonds of brotherhood, Islamic solidarity, shared strategic interests, and longstanding defense cooperation.

The Joint Defense Agreement is intended to strengthen collective deterrence against any act of aggression. It also stipulates that an armed attack against any one of the three countries will be regarded as an attack against all three.

The three countries also agreed to enhance all aspects of defense cooperation among Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan.

Before the signing, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with Erdogan and Shehbaz Sharif at Al-Safa Palace in Mecca. During the meeting, the leaders discussed relations among the three countries as well as a number of issues of mutual interest.
