RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) is placing human resource development at the center of its defense diplomacy, deepening ties with the Cambodian Air Force (CAF) through new education and training initiatives.
The agreement was formalized during the 4th Air Working Group (AWG) TNI AU–CAF 2026 event, held in Jakarta from July 28 to 31.
Co-chaired by Assistant for Operations to the Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Suliono, and Deputy Chief of Staff of the CAF, Major General Chhim Soch, the meeting produced several cooperation points.
Among the points include a reciprocal education program that will allow Cambodian officers to attend Indonesia’s Air Force Command School (Sekkau) and Air Force Staff and Command School (Seskoau) in 2028, while Indonesian officers will also have the opportunity to pursue military education in Cambodia.
“This cooperation represents a strategic move to improve the quality of human resources in defense,” Head of the Indonesian Air Force Information Service, Air Commodore I Nyoman Suadnyana, said on Monday, August 3, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
He added that additional agreements on human resource development were also reached, underscoring the shared commitment to building capacity and expertise.
Beyond the technical aspects, the initiative reflects Indonesia’s broader strategy of using military education as a bridge for regional partnerships. By investing in officer training exchanges, both air forces aim to strengthen professional standards while fostering closer bilateral relations.
The collaboration highlights how defense diplomacy and military education exchange are becoming key tools for Indonesia in advancing regional security cooperation. The agreement signals a long-term investment in leadership, trust, and stability across Southeast Asia. ***
