RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Despite global geopolitical uncertainties, the Indonesian government has assured that food supplies for Indonesian pilgrims during the 2026 Hajj season remain secure and well-prepared.
Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan emphasized that pilgrims need not worry about food availability during their stay in Saudi Arabia.
“Our pilgrims’ meals are guaranteed. Even with geopolitical dynamics, food remains secure,” he said after a coordination meeting on Hajj food preparations in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Authorities have prepared a wide range of meals -- from freshly cooked dishes to ready-to-eat packages -- ensuring both quality and nutrition are maintained. The government has also strengthened coordination with Saudi partners to guarantee smooth distribution throughout the pilgrimage.
A memorandum of understanding between the Indonesian Trade Ministry and Saudi Arabia allows food shipments specifically for Indonesian pilgrims, easing logistical hurdles.
Ready-to-eat meals, totaling around 3 million packages, will be distributed during the peak Hajj period in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina, serving approximately 200,000 pilgrims over six days.
Indonesian Minister of Hajj and Umrah Moch Irfan Yusuf confirmed that catering services remain unaffected by global price fluctuations, with providers maintaining stable rates.
Most meals will continue to be prepared in kitchens to preserve freshness, while ready-to-eat packages will be used during high-mobility phases.
Officials stressed that all food provided -- whether cooked locally or shipped from Indonesia -- meets strict safety and halal standards, reinforcing the government’s commitment to comfort and well-being for pilgrims. ***
