RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s long-standing partnership with Japan is set to deepen as President Prabowo Subianto embarks on an official visit to Tokyo, where he is scheduled to witness the signing of major investment agreements by leading Japanese companies in Indonesia.

According to a statement posted by the Cabinet Secretariat on Sunday, March 29, 2026, President Prabowo will meet prominent Japanese business leaders and oversee the signing of several investment deals aimed at strengthening economic cooperation. His agenda also includes meetings with Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, underscoring the diplomatic weight of the visit.

President Prabowo departed Jakarta from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport at 10:30 a.m. local time on Sunday, accompanied by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

He was seen off by senior officials including Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Military Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Arriving at Haneda Airport at 19:10 local time, President Prabowo was welcomed by Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Iwao Horii, Chief of Protocol Tadayuki Miyashita, Indonesia’s Ambassador to Japan Nurmala Kartini Sjahrir, and Defense Attache Rear Admiral Hidayaturrahman.

Indonesia and Japan have maintained comprehensive cooperation for 68 years across economic, political, and socio-cultural fields, with ties showing steady growth in recent years. The visit reflects the enduring friendship built on mutual trust and respect, while opening new opportunities for collaboration.

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi emphasized that President Prabowo’s meetings will focus on strategic areas that have long defined bilateral cooperation, including trade, technology, education, forestry, and environmental management. “These discussions are aimed at strengthening the friendship and exploring new avenues of cooperation with the Japanese government,” he said, as quoted by Antara.
