RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is looking to deepen cooperation with the government of Iran in advancing women’s empowerment and child protection. Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Arifah Fauzi emphasized that the collaboration is part of broader efforts to improve community welfare, particularly for women, children, and families.

“Indonesia places great importance on strengthening cooperation with Iran in the fields of women’s empowerment and child protection, as vital components in building an inclusive and resilient society,” Minister Arifah said during Iran’s National Day reception in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, February 10, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

She highlighted the urgency of safeguarding vulnerable groups and empowering women amid global uncertainties marked by geopolitical tensions, humanitarian challenges, and social and economic pressures.

Minister Arifah noted that the foundation for this partnership was laid in 2018, when the Indonesian Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection signed a cooperation agreement with Iran’s Vice Presidency for Women and Family Affairs. The agreement established a framework for joint initiatives in women’s empowerment, strengthening child protection systems, and enhancing family resilience.

“Both countries are committed to sharing best practices, expanding information exchange, implementing joint programs, and reinforcing community development efforts to address the evolving challenges faced by women and children,” she explained.

Minister Arifah also expressed appreciation for Iran’s openness to dialogue and active role in the partnership, while voicing hope that the cooperation will continue to grow into concrete programs with tangible impact.

“Indonesia values Iran’s willingness to engage and contribute to this field, and we look forward to strengthening and expanding this collaboration into initiatives that deliver real benefits,” she said. ***
