RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia has showcased its community-based immunization model to international partners, reinforcing its commitment to improving vaccine confidence and expanding immunization coverage.

The Ministry of Health, together with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, held the VaxSocial Government Learning Exchange on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, bringing delegates from Nigeria, India, and global development partners to community health post, Posyandu Kepodang A in Depok, West Java.

The visit gave participants an opportunity to observe how Indonesia mobilizes communities through Posyandu, healthcare workers, and volunteers to support primary healthcare and immunization services.

Director of Immunization at the Ministry of Health, Indri Yogyaswari, said the selection of Posyandu Kepodang A reflects international recognition of Indonesia's collaborative approach to increasing immunization coverage. "Posyandu is the heart of community health services in Indonesia," she said, as quoted on the ministry's official website on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

"It integrates essential healthcare services, including child growth monitoring, maternal and child healthcare, health education, and immunization. Its strength lies in community participation and the spirit of mutual cooperation," she added.

She noted that misinformation, vaccine hesitancy, and limited access remain key challenges. Therefore, public communication and education must continue.

"We must continue delivering accurate, simple, and easy-to-understand information with patience and empathy. Parents should be reassured that bringing their children to Posyandu for complete immunization is an act of love that helps them grow up healthy, strong, and productive," Indri said.

Depok Posyandu Supervisory Team Chair Cing Ikah welcomed the city's selection as an international learning site, saying collaboration among the local administration, healthcare workers, and volunteers has helped improve immunization coverage.

"We hope no child in Depok is left behind in receiving immunization. Through collaboration, we aim to achieve a Zero Dose status, so every child receives complete immunization as part of preparing Indonesia's Golden Generation 2045," she said.

Through the government learning exchange, Indonesia aims to strengthen global collaboration while sharing its community-centered approach to building trust in vaccines and protecting children's health. ***
