Energy Policy Socialization Promotes Innovation and Campus Living Laboratory

RRI.CO.ID, Palu – The Secretariat General of the National Energy Council (DEN) organized a National Energy Policy (KEN) socialization event themed "Strengthening Public Understanding of the National Energy Policy and National Energy Security" at the Faculty of Medicine Hall, Tadulako University, Palu, Central Sulawesi, on Thursday, September 17, 2026.

The forum was attended by Tadulako University academics, local government representatives, state-owned enterprises, and industry players to align perceptions and strategies for sustainable energy supply and transition.

Tadulako University Rector Amar affirmed the university's commitment to supporting energy independence and transition. In his speech, Amar emphasized the crucial role of universities not merely as places of learning, but as centers of research, innovation, and practical demonstration.

"We hope that Tadulako University can be developed in the future as a living laboratory for energy conversion and transition. Higher education institutions must produce knowledge, innovation, and leadership to support Golden Indonesia 2045. Let us make Untad not only a place to learn about the energy future, but a part of the solution for Indonesia's energy future," he stated.

Head of the General Bureau of the DEN Secretariat General, Bambang Sujito, dissected the strategic role of Government Regulation (PP) Number 40 of 2025 concerning the National Energy Policy as the primary foundation for national energy transition and security.

In his explanation, Bambang outlined that KEN focuses on achieving reliable energy security, fulfilling rational energy consumption toward economic progress, and diversifying new and renewable energy (NRE) sources to achieve Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060.

PP 40/2025 also serves as an essential reference in formulating Regional Energy General Plans (RUED) and strengthening regional industrial competitiveness.

For Tadulako University, this socialization event serves as a strategic stepping stone to expand avenues for research collaboration and community service. The implementation of the campus as a living laboratory can be realized through various innovative projects, such as utilizing Rooftop Solar PV (PLTS Atap) on main campus buildings, operating electric vehicles, and conducting waste-to-energy research.

A panel discussion session presented comprehensive perspectives from various stakeholder speakers. The discussion explored the strategic role of higher education institutions in supporting energy independence, followed by presentations from PT Pertamina Patra Niaga regarding fuel and LPG supply reliability in Central Sulawesi, and an explanation from the Head of the Central Sulawesi Provincial Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Office outlining regional energy policies and strategies.

The socialization event concluded with a shared commitment to formulate concrete steps and sustainable collaboration agendas among DEN, the Central Sulawesi Regional Government, and Tadulako University. This synergy encompasses mapping regional NRE potentials, human resource capacity building, and applied research that can deliver tangible benefits for the welfare of the Central Sulawesi community and Indonesia's energy sovereignty.
