RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The government launched the Asta Mandala SMK Go Global program to prepare competent Indonesian human resources capable of competing in the international job market. The program is part of the government's efforts to strengthen the transformation of Indonesian migrant worker placement toward skilled labor in accordance with global industry needs.
The Minister of the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), Mukhtarudin, stated that Asta Mandala SMK Go Global is an implementation of President Prabowo Subianto's directive to strengthen the protection of Indonesian migrant workers before, during, and after their employment.
"Through Asta Mandala SMK Go Global, we want to build Indonesian talent with competencies that meet the needs of the global industry." The placement of Indonesian migrant workers is not only an opportunity to work abroad but also part of Indonesia's human resource development strategy," Mukhtarudin said at a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
The Asta Mandala SMK Go Global program is a collaboration between the Ministry of P2MI and the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment. This program is focused on several priority sectors, such as health, hospitality, manufacturing, construction, agriculture, and transportation.
Thru this program, the government aims to place 500,000 prospective Indonesian migrant workers in the period from 2026 to 2029. The training provided will be tailored to the needs of the international job market to enhance the competencies of prospective Indonesian migrant workers.
Mukhtarudin explained that Asta Mandala SMK Go Global is built on two main pillars, namely Panca Sukses as the program implementation strategy and Tri Dampak as the desired outcome, which includes the improvement of competencies, protection, and welfare of Indonesian migrant workers.
"We want to ensure that every Indonesian Job Seeker has the competencies required by the job market, receives optimal protection, and is able to improve their own welfare, their family's welfare, and contribute to the national economy," he explained.
