ITB Strengthens Global Standing with Success in QS World University Rankings

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) has strengthened its global academic standing, recording significant progress across multiple disciplines in the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject.

The university secured places in the “Top 100” worldwide for Mineral & Mining Engineering and Petroleum Engineering, while Architecture & Built Environment and Art & Design ranked in the 101–150 cluster. Rector Tatacipta Dirgantara said the achievement reflects ITB’s consistency in competing at the international level.

ITB also posted strong results in Chemical Engineering (201–250) and Civil Engineering (201–275). In broad subject areas, Engineering & Technology rose to 216 globally, up from 282, marking ITB’s highest position in this category.

Other fields showed notable improvement: Computer Science & Information Systems advanced to 451–500, Business & Management Studies to 401–450, and Agriculture & Forestry to 351–400. Arts & Humanities climbed to 345, Natural Sciences to 374, and Social Sciences & Management also to 374.

Tatacipta praised the collective effort of ITB’s academic community, noting that the institution’s achievements are the result of sustained collaboration.

“These results are not instant; they are the fruit of joint work across ITB. We see this as momentum to strengthen synergy, enhance academic and research reputation, and ensure consistent transformation,” he said, as quoted by Antara.

Several ITB disciplines also ranked first nationally, including Architecture & Built Environment, Art & Design, and various engineering fields such as Chemical, Civil & Structural, Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing, as well as Mineral & Mining. Other top-ranked subjects include Petroleum Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Materials Sciences, Mathematics, and Physics & Astronomy.

The recognition highlights ITB’s role as a leading institution in Indonesia and its growing presence in the global academic landscape. ***
