RRI.CO.ID, Bali - Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Arifah Fauzi, reviewed the teaching and learning activities at the Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama (SRMP) 17 Tabanan, Bali Province, on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.

This visit was conducted to ensure the optimal implementation of the People's School Program in providing quality and equitable education access for children from underprivileged and vulnerable families.

"People's School is part of the President's Priority Program to expand access to quality and equitable education for all children of the nation. Education is the main key to breaking the intergenerational cycle of poverty," Arifah stated.

The Minister of PPPA hopes that People's Schools can serve as an example of a school that creates conditions where children can learn safely and comfortably. Arifah emphasized that child protection should not only be understood as an effort to prevent physical violence, but also to ensure the creation of a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Therefore, children can grow and develop optimally, both psychologically and socially.

"Schools must be spaces that make children feel valued, heard, and protected. When children feel safe and comfortable, the learning process will be more optimal and their positive character can be well-formed," she said.

Moreover, Arifah expressed appreciation to teachers and educational staff for their dedication in creating a learning environment that supports character building, discipline, and the value of mutual cooperation among students.

The head of SRMP 17 Tabanan, Putu Jaya, stated that currently, SRMP 17 Tabanan has 74 students, all of whom come from underprivileged families. Putu Jaya revealed the most significant change, which is the increasingly better character development of the children at the People's School.

"The most noticeable changes are their discipline, spirit of mutual cooperation, and their increasingly strong sense of responsibility." We feel both touched and proud to see children from underprivileged families now able to attend quality schools with good facilities," Putu Jaya conveyed.
