RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Industry continues to strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium industries (IKM) in the craft sector by improving product quality, promoting design innovation, utilizing technology, and expanding market access.

Director General of Small, Medium, and Miscellaneous Industries at the Ministry of Industry, Reni Yanita, said Indonesia’s cultural heritage, creativity, and diverse local resources are important assets for developing the country’s fashion and craft industries.

“The fashion and craft industries have significant potential to continue growing, supported by Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage, creativity, and diverse local resources. The government continues to promote this potential by transforming it into value-added products that can meet the needs of domestic and international markets,” Reni said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

One of the efforts is to facilitate IKM businesses in participating in various exhibitions and promotional activities. At the 2026 Nusantara Craft Exhibition (Kriyanusa), held from September 26 to 30, 2026, at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), the Directorate General of Small, Medium, and Miscellaneous Industries facilitated eight IKM businesses in the craft sector.

The participating businesses showcased a variety of fashion products, accessories, handicrafts, textiles, and other craft products. During the five-day exhibition, the eight IKM businesses recorded total transactions of IDR 313 million.

Kriyanusa 2026 was attended by 257 participants and featured 410 exhibition booths, involving the National Craft Council (Dekranas), Regional Craft Councils (Dekranasda), ministries and government agencies, as well as IKM businesses from various regions.

Reni encouraged IKM businesses to preserve cultural values and traditional craftsmanship while continuing to improve their designs, quality, innovation, and packaging to keep pace with changing consumer needs and market trends.

“This achievement shows that traditional Indonesian craft products have strong appeal and market potential. Therefore, we encourage IKM businesses not only to preserve their cultural values and traditional craftsmanship but also to continue improving their designs, quality, innovation, and packaging to respond to changing market needs and trends,” she explained.
