RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) reported that the number of user accounts for trading digital financial assets in Indonesia reached 22.93 million as of July 2026. OJK Deputy Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Hernawan Bekti Sasongko, said this reflects the rapid expansion of Indonesia’s digital financial ecosystem.
He noted that this growth is also visible in cryptocurrency transaction value, which reached IDR 20.52 trillion (around USD 1.15 billion) as of July. Meanwhile, transactions in digital financial asset derivatives totaled IDR 3.41 trillion during the same period.
“This development is supported by an increasingly comprehensive digital financial asset trading infrastructure, consisting of two digital financial asset exchanges, two clearing houses, two custodian providers, and 27 licensed digital financial asset dealers,” Hernawan said on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
Hernawan added that the Central Financial X (CFX) exchange listed 1,214 assets and 49 derivatives, while the Indonesia Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (ICDX) listed 871 tradable assets. He said this indicates an expanding range of product choices within Indonesia’s digital financial asset ecosystem.
“Tens of millions of consumers show that this is no longer just an early‑adopter community. We believe they are part of the public who are investing their money and placing their trust in the ecosystem we’ve built together,” he said.
Hernawan emphasized that the rise in user numbers means the digital finance industry must be accompanied by commensurate responsibility. Public trust, he said, is a crucial foundation for maintaining the sustainability of the digital finance ecosystem.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, added that the growth of digital financial accounts is one of the hallmarks of digital transformation. He said the use of artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly integrated into public activities and the economic sector.
“In my opinion, the figure of 22.3 million accounts is quite significant. This is a sign that we have entered the era of digital transformation in the financial sector,” he said.
Nezar stressed that this development must be accompanied by readiness in human resources and technology governance. “Digital transformation requires talent capable of understanding technology as well as the risks and ethical aspects of its use,” he said. (Gusti Panji)
