Indonesian MSMEs Secure USD 29,000 Food Export Deal in Chile

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesian processed food products are once again showing export potential in international markets. Two Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have secured an order worth USD 29,000 from Chilean buyer Cencosud Retail S.A., covering a range of fruit, vegetable, and tempeh-based snacks.

The order includes mango, apple, jackfruit, broccoli, and mushroom chips from CV Pangantama Makmur Abadi, as well as tempeh chips in truffle, honey butter, and Himalayan salt basil flavors from CV Arva Indonesia.

The shipment left Indonesia in the second week of August 2026 and is expected to arrive in Chile in October for distribution through local retail networks.

Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, Fajarini Puntodewi, welcomed the growing success of Indonesian MSMEs in entering export markets. “This transaction could mark the start of a sustainable long‑term partnership with local buyers,” she said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday, August 24, 2026, as quoted on the Ministry’s official website.

She noted that the Ministry continues to promote exports through trade promotion, market exploration, exhibition facilitation, and business communication support between Indonesian exporters and potential global buyers. If the products receive a positive response, the two MSMEs could secure additional transactions worth up to USD 29,000.

The transaction resulted from follow‑up efforts after Indonesian companies participated in Espacio Food & Service 2025. The Indonesia Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Santiago, together with the Indonesian Embassy in Santiago, facilitated business communication with buyers in Chile until the deal materialized.

CV Pangantama Makmur Abadi owner Irene Hartanto expressed appreciation for the support that enabled the inaugural export. She also encouraged other MSMEs to take advantage of export facilitation provided by the Ministry of Trade.

Another opportunity emerged from a business matching session between PT Mega Inovasi Organik and Chilean importer Agro Imagina on July 29.

Deputy Head of ITPC Santiago, Tesa Listva Kusumawardani, said the prospective importer was interested in Indonesian spices and was considering purchasing one 20‑foot container valued at USD 70,000.

ITPC Santiago will continue to facilitate communication throughout the import process, including shipment, import requirements, product arrival, distribution, and sales. This support is expected to increase purchase volume if the products receive a positive market response.

From January to June 2026, total trade between Indonesia and Chile reached USD 277.4 million, with Indonesia exporting USD 219.8 million and importing USD 57.6 million. Throughout 2025, total bilateral trade reached USD 534.9 million, and Indonesia recorded a trade surplus of USD 346.8 million. ***
