- OJK sees fairer stock prices emerging after IDX removed the IDR 50 minimum price.
- The policy is reviving inactive stocks and strengthening market-based price discovery.
RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian Financial Services Authority (OJK) considers that lowering the stock price minimum threshold from IDR 50 to IDR 1 (less than USD 1) is beginning to lead to the formation of fair market prices. This policy by the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has been in effect in the regular market and the cash market since September 28, 2026.
Chief Executive of Capital Market Supervision at the OJK, Hasan Fawzi, said that stock prices are now determined based on investor supply and demand.
“The new equilibrium price that has formed is expected to align with market expectations as well as with the market’s fundamental conditions,” he said during a virtual press conference on the results of the September 2026 Monthly Board of Commissioners Meeting (RDK) on Monday, October 5, 2026.
Hasan noted that the OJK, together with the IDX, continues to monitor and evaluate trading in all stocks listed on the exchange. This oversight also includes stocks whose prices have fallen to as low as IDR 1 per share.
Hasan said that several previously inactive stocks have now resumed trading with high and adequate liquidity levels. “Once a new equilibrium price is reached, we see some prices stabilizing while others rise. This reflects that the policy’s objectives are proceeding as planned,” he said.
Hasan added that the removal of the stock price floor is part of best practices implemented in both regional and global stock exchanges. The policy is designed to allow stock prices to be determined based on the market’s perception of a company’s fundamental value and prospects.
Furthermore, the policy is expected to reduce market intervention and strengthen the price discovery process. With this mechanism in place, stock prices are expected to better reflect a company’s fundamental conditions and future prospects. (Gusti Panji-EN)
