RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has confirmed that the Carbon Unit Registry System (SRUK) will serve as the foundation for developing Indonesia’s national carbon market. Established under Presidential Regulation No. 110/2025, the system will be linked to the Indonesia Carbon Exchange (IDXCarbon).
OJK Board of Commissioners Chair, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, said the SRUK will create a more integrated carbon trading ecosystem, functioning as the primary market, while IDXCarbon will serve as the secondary market.
“The SRUK will be connected to IDXCarbon. This system will serve as the lifeline for the further development and growth of Indonesia’s carbon market,” Friderica said in Jakarta on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
She added that the integration is a strategic step toward building a carbon market that is more transparent, efficient, and governed by stronger oversight. “We expect Indonesia, with its immense potential, to become a leader in the global carbon market,” she said.
As part of regulatory support, OJK has issued Regulation No. 10/2026, which defines the role of the financial services sector in supporting carbon trading.
Friderica explained that the regulation has been aligned with Presidential Regulation No. 110/2025, thereby providing legal certainty for financial industry players and supporting carbon market development.
With interconnected registration infrastructure, exchanges, and regulations now in place, OJK hopes Indonesia’s carbon market ecosystem will grow more rapidly and enhance the country’s competitiveness in the global carbon market. (Gusti Panji)
