RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Finance has emphasized that the protection provided by Patriot Bonds and Merah Putih Bonds applies only to funds invested in these instruments, not to all of an investor’s assets.

“The fact is that the source of the funds invested in Patriot Bonds will not be scrutinized,” Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, as quoted by Antara. He stressed, however, that this policy does not eliminate legal liability for business activities outside of these investments.

This clarification addresses Article 50A of Law No. 4/2026 on Financial Sector Development and Strengthening (UU P2SK), which provides legal protection to purchasers of special debt securities issued by the Danantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara Indonesia).

The protection covers general criminal charges, specific criminal offenses -- including tax‑related ones -- and civil lawsuits, but only in relation to the invested funds.

Minister Purbaya emphasized that funds invested in these instruments are considered safe, but this does not grant legal immunity to the company as a whole if violations are found. “So, it’s not like a tax amnesty, which grants full immunity,” he said.

He also addressed concerns that the policy could be misused for money laundering. According to him, the scheme is designed to draw funds that have been outside the system back into the domestic economy.

Minister Purbaya believes this inflow of funds can strengthen financing for national development, even if it entails certain consequences. He stressed that the long‑term economic benefits outweigh the potential loss of some value. ***
